Angela Evelyn Bassett (born April 15 in 1961) was an American actor. Her name has been praised by the media and for her television performance since the 1980s. Her accolades include two Golden Globe Awards, sixteen NAACP Image Awards as well as nominations for Academy Awards and Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett is from New York New York. She was raised at Winston-Salem North Carolina. Bassett along with her sister, and their mother were moved into St. Petersburg Florida when Bassett was 5 years old. The father of the family had divorced their mother. Bassett chose to become an actor after watching the production Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, starring James Earl Jones. Yale University New Haven Connecticut granted her a bachelor's degree (1980), in African American study, and a graduate degree (1983), from the Yale School of Drama. She met Courtney B. Vance, a fellow actress at Yale and they were married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. The Yale School of Drama awarded a Master of Fine Arts in African American Studies to Angela Bassett back in the year 1980. The school she attended was the institutions that she attended: Jordan Park elementary school, Disston Middle School for 7th graders, Azalea Middle School for 8th & 9th grades in addition to Boca Ciega High School.
